Britney Spears, the one-time “queen” of the pop charts, seems to have turned her “youthful” energies into something less vigorous than the music stage. She is now sinking ever deeper into the world of perfumes and colognes. Whether this is meant to salvage her name after the downturn in her musical career remains to be seen. One thing is for sure though: the list of fragrances bearing the trademark “Britney Spears Perfume” seems to be on a steady rise.
The first Britney Spears perfume was the result of teamwork between her and a company belonging to Elizabeth Arden. The joint effort paid off and produced the awe-inspiring Curious fragrance in 2004. The theme of this pioneering product was “youth” and “sweetness” – perhaps befitting attributes for someone who herself had had her fair share of curiosity and sweetness as a teenage pop star!
Hot on the heels of Curious followed another Britney Spears perfume with yet a more “shouting” brand name Fantasy. The year was 2005 and this new sweet fragrance bore a blend of assorted fruit, jasmine and vanilla flavors, among other scents. Little wonder then that it received the blessing of Giorgio Armani’s Design Parlor through which it was unveiled to the market.
If the introduction of the second Britney Spears perfume did not send the signal that the former pop diva was now “in control” of herself in as far as this new line of business was concerned, the appearance of the third line of fragrances appropriately code-named In Control was meant to silence the few remaining “doubting Thomases”. Like its predecessors, this romantically blended Britney Spears perfume soon moved fast to claim its niche of the market and establish a name for its self (or is it for Britney Spears). By now it was however clear that the person behind this line of perfumes was keeping up the momentum by launching one brand after another, and that at yearly intervals!
In keeping with her determination, Britney Spears has come up with yet another scent in her line of Britney Spears perfumes, if only to make us surely “believe” that she had come to stay in this business. Yes, you guessed right, it is deliberately called Believe and has just hit the market this February 2009! Like it happened in the beginning Britney Spears again joined hands with the co-creator of her first perfume (Curious) – Elizabeth Arden – in order to come up with this latest of her sensual products. If that is not the way to go, girl!
